Wow I'm the odd one out... I can't do anything without listening to music (I have headphones in when I sleep) but my taste seems to be a bit more spread out:
I love 2pac, B.I.G, Jayz, Roots, Gang Starr, Kanye West, Outkast, Eminem, Dr. Dre...
Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Earl Klugh, Bob James, Norah Jones...
Nickelback, Creed, Staind, Lifehouse...
Sarah Mclachlan, Dido, Jewel, Vanessa Carlton...
Audioslave, Radiohead, Nirvana, Tool...
Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Chopin...
And the list goes on, but I must admit 2pac is my all time favorite

I have to have music playing when I design too. The music changes based on the mood I am in and the project I am working on. I like classical, but can't listen to it while I design. I've been listening to Hip-Hop since 1980, Grew up on Country music, Disco, 80's Rock, 60's-70's Rock .... My taste is extremely wide. If I had to pick a genre to listen to while I design, it would be Hip-Hop (Eminem, 50, Dre, 2Pac, Ghetto Boys, NWA, Snoop)
I like Heavy Metal (Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Marilyn Manson)
Rock (Velvet Revolver, Linkin Park, Nirvana, Pearl Jam)
Goth (Type O Negative, Acid Bath, After Forever)
R&B (BoyzIIMen, R Kelly, Alicia Keys, Joe)
Rap (Em, 50, Dre, Pac, Snoop, Scarface, Ghetto Boys, Jay Z, Master P, Lil Flip, DJ Screw)
Country (George Strait, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings)
Classic Rock (Doors, Beatles, Steve Miller Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd)
On and On ..

Well, Bob Dylan beats all. The mans a complete legend. I'm actaully reading the chronicles at the minute. But apart from him:
Snow Patrol (recently went to see them live ^_^)
Rage against the machine
Incubus
Beatles
