I have never seen PHP for Dummies, but I would imagine it would be a good place to start. The php documentation is also a good place to look: http://www.php.net/docs.php

The "for Dummies" books are absolutely great!
I have the HTML 4 for Dummies, I'm learning alot from that one.

Thx. Well I ordered "PHP for Dummies" and "XML All in One Desk Reference for Dummies" yesterday from booksamillion! I even started making a login system from tutorials online. And I now know how to create a MYSQL database. I can't wait till I learn more. Can't wait till the book comes too. Anyway, I may try out your shoutbox today.

Start off at http://scriptschool.com
Use http://devnetwork.net/forums if you have questions that need answering, and use the php manual for reference.
I did about 18 months/2 years ago, and am now pretty good at it (see http://megaming.com )
