You've done a good job on this, Lw421. The only thing that I think could use more work is the leafy apparatus on the top of the tomato. It just doesn't look natural to me.

Good Job, but I feel it complicated. The narrow lines created by the "krimmer's" and the red rectangular shape underneath adds uneeded distraction. As for the leaf same as the comment of Purple.

Thank you so much for the positive feedback!

I am incredibly pleased to hear that you like it, purple. I really admire your work.

This is my best work ever. As you know i am very new to design. I actually made this design with a freeware design program, called InkScape. It is VERY good for free-ware, as it is a vector program with great illustration capabilities.

I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to improve the leafy stem. I tried to fix it and i couldn't make it much better.

Thanks!
Luke

You're welcome Luke.
Whenever I get hung up on a detail that I can't get quite right, I simply search google for a reference image, and use that as a guide to get it right. You should have no problem finding an image of a tomato with a stem =)

Yes, the shape is definitely much better.

You may be going for the solid color look, and if you are, please disregard this idea, but it may help the stem if you add a couple shadows and some subtle shading changes in strategic places.

Hi, Luke:

I do like the simplicity of the logo. But have you tried setting the type Italianette Pizzeria in red, bold, all caps font? The red bar just doesn't make sense to me -- and I think it competes too much with the tomato. :)

Good job tweaking the leaves and stem!

I think that looks better -- more balanced.

Can you tighten up the kerning between the R'S?

The S looks like it is out too far to the right. :)

its funny, because the people i'm doing this logo for don't like this one, but i think it has potential so i'm holding onto it. Their more into old fashion designs.

I am no fan for overlapping a illustration with text. Often because then the illustration can't stand alone good to be recognized. Also try to make the bottom text have same angle as the name.

What about putting Krimmer's in a Script font? Where the descender of the K dips below the rest of the Kimmer's name - then it could cradle "Italianette Pizzeria". The curves of a scripty font could help give it a more rounded look, which would compliment the tomato.

Oh! I have another idea: Instead of having the tomato be a solid red circle, how about making the tomato look like tomato sauce that has been swirled onto pizza dough? Keep the solid green leaf of the tomato stem in the same position. Whatchathink?

its a good idea, but im too lazy to do it lol. (also lack the skill to make the pizza sauce look good), the pizzeria owners dont like this design so im not too worried about it.
