pretty much everything by pink floyd gets me in the zone... then add some lsd and i'm golden...
...
just kidding
...
i don't listen to pink floyd... xD
joke aside, i mostly get inspired by "Anberlin", "The Spill Canvas", "Fall Out Boy" and even some "Motion City Soundtrack" but pretty much any (alternative) rock will do...
music is very important for me, but its application depends on the project. if i have a concept in my head already, i can easily listen to music at the same time and it'll even help me get into the workflow and come up with improvements... but if i'm clueless about a project the music will just distract me too much

Sometimes, my playlist affects my work. If it feels giddy, my work would somehow give that mood. But sometimes, when I don't have any ideas, I listen to a random song and get one from there.
That being said, I don't stick to one playlist when designing. But right now, I'm listening to The Black Keys, Howlin Wolf, Maximum Balloon and Little Dragon.

It sortah depends on the mood that I am already in. Sometimes it depends on what I am designing. Example if doing a grafitti style design I would more than likely be listening to hip hop. Jurassic 5 , Dialated Peoples and the like. For the most part its usually alternative music on itunes radio or jazz.
Pretty much anything but country. Just a bit to depressing for me to enjoy at times. Notice I did say hip hop and not rap for rap is just as depressing as country too. Guns, murder and violence.
