Here's a layout I've been working on for my work.

I scrapped the previous one (http://www.bradley.ws/crossroads/) because my boss said it was too dark. I explained to her that when your monitor brightness is on 0%, everything will be dark. She of course refuses to listen, so I re-did it.

It's a movie theatre site if that helps while your critiquing (sp?) it.

A few things I'm not sure I'm happy with are the content box and the Header Text.
I've never been good with headers..so if you have any suggestions please feel free.

Anyway, here it is; give me your worst

It's not going to be that much open space. It just hasn't been sliced yet. The content box will fill up 100% of the main part. There will also be more stuff on the nav bar.

Any suggestions on what I should make the green?

Oh, also about the flash I do agree.

I had many other headers at first but they were quickly dismissed. My boss wanted something to move. She suggested a marquee and I told her that would look extremely tacky (didn't say this directly obviously) but instead I showed her the moving flash thing (which I'm also not very good at

) and she really liked it.

First one is very dark as previously noted. The flash is kewl but not nessisary as for another color I dunno I havnt done alot of work with orange try a brown or something.

I agree on the darkness of the first one being caused by the 'searchlight' header ..dont like that too much..

2nd one looks pretty nice overall though I really dislike the shadow and (default?) bevel and emboss on the text

Ok, I changed a few things on the second one including the text and the logo.

I also changed the colors.

I already showed this to my boss and she likes this one the most so I guess that's all that really matters.

But I thought I'd give you guys a chance to critique it.
