Hello Designers,

I recently won the "Donne e Vino" contest.
I started out the contest with two designs that I really thought would be a great look for the contest holder's company.
I woke up the next day and found my design eliminated.
I thought to my self. How could this be?, my designs where great and clever.
I realized I had to be different.
I had to submit that one unique design the CH could not resist.
So I did and I loved it. It was simple but very unique.
I was graded an 80 out of 100. This was satisfying.
For the next week I forgot about the contest because I thought I had no hope.
I went back to check on the contest comments, and to my surprise the CH had loved my idea but wanted a simple color change.
I was filled with joy and worked on my logo immediately.
It was one of the best experienced I have ever had. ;)

It's called tough skin. Real world vs. I-am-the-best-ever designer attitude. But like you, I am determined. A client's feedback can actually make or break my day-- If I allow it. Nothing is ever too easy, and you are not alone...never give up.

Yes, I agree with you fully.
When I get low feedback, I suddenly run out of other ideas and I feel like the contest is over for me.

Congratulations on the win! And sometimes it's ok to go overboard and just be creative, and yes, unique.

Yeah, that's right. I had same with my first won for BigBendTimber. About midnight i was looking for new contests, like everyday for two months before. And there was something new 0 entries, so i thought i'll be first in this contest. I've done a sketch as simple as it could be, and added. Next day i was graded 90 with my very first design, it's so amazing. Next few days i've only adjusted colors with some gradients and my designs stand as first till end of that contest. That was great and it's really worth it, not only for the price but for satisfaction.

Oh, I remember your design for Big Band Timber. I loved it from the start, it was my favorite.
Regarding that contest, I must admit I had prejudices toward that industry (it is a shame, but I'm honest), thinking client would like something cheesy & typical, like emblem with tree, timber, mountain, musculate arm holding a ax.:D
And I was lovely surprised, with the clients taste and respond he gave to designers:):):)
:D

A little ego bust can never hurt, sometimes the key to being a great designer is learning to not take things personally.
