Whenever I use a pathfinder function on black or white CYMK objects CS3 converts them to greyscale. I would like to keep them in the CYMK they started out in. Makes it more difficult in the printing program I export to. Does anyone know of a setting to stop this conversion?

please more clarification?
does this problem in one file or any file you open?
try to change to CMYK from the color window.
see this might help you:

if didn't work, open a new "print document" in illustrator, then copy and past your work in it, modify it as you like then re-copy back to your work document.

set your color preferences and make a template of the doc.. use this template for every design you do.. colors should stay consistant across...
