Go to Effect>3d>Extrude and Bevel, then choose Position: Front, then choose Bevel: Classic.

You could also select your text and add an offset path. Then add a gradient to the outer shape. This is not as effective as using the 3D but I find it easier to edit/adjust the gradient to get it just how you want it.

for addition to MattMDesign also you must get low value of the bevel depending on your desired output. you can also adjust its perspective for additional view of your object. goodluck!

from menu panel find effects and then find 3d then simply click extrude and bevel. Goodluck !

the principe is = as Photoshop, you will not have a problems with that, so Effect-Extrude and bevel in Illustrator. You have a different options for creating a 3D look-classic, normal etc. for corners of 3Dbuildings.

Be careful with 3D tool because it can make your file VERY heavy :)
