Hi all:

Im wondering if anyone knows how to do the following in some type of program that can export/import into Illustrator CS6.

I have say, a rectangular path/box that is 6.5x2.4", 0.001" stroke. I have the same type of path/objects/parts that I need to fit into the box the most efficient way possible. I then use this path to drive a laser cutter, to cut the parts.

I have seen the auto industry use some type of algorithm/ program to scan cowhides, then arrange the upholstery in a way that is most efficient. Im looking for something similar to that, other than I will tell it what the box size is, and the part is all the same. I do not think this is natively possible in .ai, but if their is a program out that I can export/import to, that is what Im looking for.

Thanks for the help,
-Clayton

*I may cross-post in other forums, im tired of arranging parts by hand.*

Thanks again.
