Hey guys,

I had a problem in that some photoshop files got deleted permanently, then needed recovery, so i used a data recovery program to get them back, and most won’t open up..  a few will, and others you can see the preview, but most just say that there is some misc error and can’t open the file.
I’m assuming that after recovery, the file is not 100%, but is there a utility that will or has the potential to recover some of the image or even the layers?
I tried the one advanced photoshop recovery program 1.0 but it couldn’t do anything.
I have some of the files to test, but try are big 100MB+
Any advice?

Unless things have changed from the days I did some file recoveries (after deleting), "undeleting" files with software should be foolproof as the software should verify every segment/cluster is still intact before it recovers the file.  I could go into a description of how a file is layed out on a hard drive but I won't bore you to death (smile).  So, what I'm saying is it appears you may have used something that didn't do a good job of verifying each file to be "undeleted" was completely intact and chained.  In short, it's also a way of saying things look bad.

Also I think the easiest and simplest way will be to hire a third-party program to restore these files. I like Photoshop Recovery Toolbox which I personally use. They have a trial version. So you can check the files and see will it do anything to restore it. http://www.oemailrec...p_recovery.html

Now, IF there are other recovery programs that some other experts are aware of that can salvage portions of Photoshop files, I'll gladly let them step in here while I take notes (smile).
