here's a website header in Flash that I am working on right now. You might think it is almost finished, but there is still a lot of work to do here.

I would very much appreciate any comments and constructive critisism. Thanks in advance!

the flash file itself can be found here:
you have to have Flash Player 9 installed to see this file.

I think it's a great work so far. The only real change I would suggest by peeking is you may want to add more logs, and make the flames a little more "roaring". That fire doesn't look very warm.

But, I think you're totally off to a fantastic start!!!

Edit... What's going to go in the picture frame to the right of the fire place?

Thank you!

well, it actually was requested by the client that there is only one log in the fire.

as for the picture, not sure yet, probably some kind of modern style art... Not sure if I am ready to draw Mona Lisa there :p

Its awesome! The only thing I would change is maybe make the guys face a little more detailed with some facial expression, and of course its probably not finished yet, but a cool picture where the green is in the frame would look nice, and maybe you could have a few different picture frames on the wall. :) Really nice flash, its overall pretty realistic looking. I've always liked the prespective in your art.

Thank you Seawise and Apresico very much!

I made the "picture" stand out on purpose so that I don't forget to finish it :) Every time I look at the file the green spot hurts my eyes :)

He bought a big screen crystal LCD screen hehe. Would be funny if after a while he throws the book into the fire hehe :)

yeah, that would be cool :D I was thinking about adding something like that, but it is too complex for animation and also I didn't optimize the dude to be animated :(

Here's a thought...

Maybe add in a little more snow falling, and maybe some snow/ice on the buildings and such outside the window? Might also help the "coziness" effect.

Dalisca, well, it is kind of late autumn, Christmas in not there just yet, but it is quite chilly already :)

batmantheking, I have to agree with you, there isn't much functionality in this header, it is used rather for decoration. It is just Russian version of the website contains a lot of text matherials and they are managed by joomla. But the next step will be making an English version of the same website which will have much less text and will be completely in Flash. There you will see more functionality for sure :)

Just a simple idea.

Try to reflect the light changes of the fire in the face of the guy, that can looks really warm (cool)! LOL

I'm a perfectionist and one thing I notices is that the picture is slightly out of perspective compared to the fireplace, it's not much and not anything that many would notice. Just a thought and a thing to maybe improve ^^
Reflecting the light from the fireplace in the face of the man would be a nice detail and another thing that might give it all a better look is dampening the light in the rest of the room making it more _cosy_ so to speak. Adding some reflection in the windows can uppen the flash even more.

Btw very nice work! :D

The reflections are a great idea, but I wouldn't go overboard. I appreciate the subtleness of this header. A lot of flash content is way too in-your-face.

Nice work!
