Thanks... :D I am looking forward to being on the site. But I am nervous about appling to the design teams.... I have never done logos, but was inspired during school where I entered a logo contest (It hasn't ended yet) for something in my state. I also drew before that, and love to desgin things, so I said. 'hey why not?' It is the perfect site for me.

my life = no life = computer/drawing

Welcome to Design Contest Tainted. You need a good online portfolio to apply and need to be active in this forum. Or win 3 contest in the community contest section.

You need a good basis for designing logo, you need to know the basics of vector programs too. If you want to learn those things we got allot of information in the design chat section. Also if you want to ask about how something work you should just ask.

Looking at your small portfolio I see you use allot of effect. You really need to stop that because Illustrator got those effect filters but those filters make rasters. And you need to learn how to get those effect without filters actually.

There you could find allot of great tutorial to learn how to use Illustrator faster.

It would be worth your while to purchase Adobe Illustrator. Even if it's not the newest version. Logos should all be created in vector format, and in fact must be created in vector format for our contests. Plus it's just a good tool to have in general.

I don't think I can, because my parents are getting me photoshop CS3, which comes with vector stuff, and i think Illustrator.

Probably Adobe CS3 Design standard. I hope you get that one instead of only Photoshop. Design standard is very good set for making logo's and allot of graphics design stuff. Only no tools for web design though.

If you're a student, I believe you can get a pretty good discount on some of Adobe software. You should look into it, because like the others said the investment is definitely worthwhile.
