For the contest you follow and the contests you participate in you will receive a message in the section "my messages" and on your email. For the other contests you can see them from the contests list. Part of the closed contets have selected a winner and you can see in when you select the contest. Part of the closed contests didn't yet selected a winner.
Here is one contest with selected winner to see how it looks

I have seen this idea done in other contest websites and it works just fine, I actually love this idea, having an open contest but with blind ratings so no copying and another idea for rating could be in stars, like 1 star to 5 stars, 1 being the lowest rating and 5 as a contender!
