Vector Magic

I found it ok for converting fairly high quality bitmaps, but never really works for text.

Vector Magic is a conversion program that takes bitmap images such as those with file formats *.jpeg, *.gif, *.bmp, *.tiff and *.png and change them into *.eps, etc.

Tracing by hand is quicker and smoother if you are handy with the pen tool. have spent way tot much time trying to clean up auto trace, live trace, image trace vectors. The trace is quick, the cleanup is endless. I have occasionally used the path tool in Photoshop and exported that to Illustrator. I got experienced with that tool drawing clipping paths. If the paths are allowed to look like a child cut them out with scissors, the Image trace is fine.
