I have never used corel. I do find it frustrating when trying to open corel (cdr) files. I have a client that has a small screen print shop and she only has corel so she sends me her corel files ggrrr... customers bring in a sketch she scans it in and sends a file that I can't open because I use illustrator.

I have read good things and bad things about both, maybe it is like the chevy vs. ford thing?

This is a free converter that might come in handy for converting your clients .Cdr files to .Ai: sK1 Project

Always nice to have a few cross platform conversion software's in your tool box :)

Like what? What are the benefits or drawbacks that you're aware of for each application?

In the past I used corel but then I switch to adobe because oftenly I found problems in color when printing the works in corel. I don't know that it's the problem with corel or the printing machine. But since I use adobe i never find problem like that.

Corel have specific way for Color adjustment,
And relay don't like to print effect like lens,
or drop shadow ...
Best way, convert to bitmap before printing
