The question is: can you use the software to its best potential for what you need it to do.
That said, the issue you'll find is that Adobe pretty much has the market sewn up, especially when they started bundling everything into CS. So finding a printer or bureau that supports Corel may be a challenge. Effectively 90-95% of the Australian market is CS.
This will require you to be pretty good with your pre-press and file set up. Learn all you can about how to set trapping, export bomb proof PDFs etc. Effectively you (or more to the point your client) will be on your own with having to do file prep.
How well do Corel files integrate with InDesign?

I use the same products Corel and Adobe, it all depends on what I want to get the result. There are pros and cons to both manufacturers. What is at Corel, Adobe and not in reverse. If these companies ever come together, they will not be equal in the world.

Vector is vector no matter what app you use...The final outcome is what really matters and knowledge of the apps in use... If your comfortable with Adobe then stick to it because Corel may soon be bought out by Adobe like all the other competitors.. LMAO oh and some of the shortcuts palettes and menus are different. So most of your time will be spent learning and searching than designing.
