I would go with Illustrator. Maybe the tools don't different so much in Illustrator and CorelDraw, but the main aspect is learning the program to become a better designer. As Illustrator is more popular, then obviously there are much more tutorials and little tweaks you can find form the internet. So this was the main reason why I chose Illustrator not CorelDraw.
At the same time...a matter of taste.

Adobe Illustrator. Simply because of its compatibility with other Adobe software.

Illustrator is a good for vector in a first place, because you can use the EPS, embed the image and fonts, and no problems with scailing.
The Corel Draw on a second place, nice colour from Illustrator, you can save your work in a EPS, ussing that on Illustrator, or different.

Which ever one your most comfortable with... As mentioned in another post vector is vector so not matter the app that created it... But I say Adobe for they are the leading standard who is stomping all over the competition even at times the 3d apps

Inkscape is as good as anything out there and is free. You might have to learn a few tricks to do some things that Illustrator has built in functions for, but Illustrator has its limitations too and some that Inkscape doesn't.

For me it would be Illustrator as well, but I worked with Inkscape before and it is quite good, especially that it is free.

I would go with Illustrator first but I like to use Xara Graphic & Photo Designer too, because I find sometime it is easy to navigate trough all fonts and it has great set of features, you can export to many different files, ai, eps. psd, pdf, swf, etc .

I think Adobe Illustrator has many professional and flexible tools. But it is harder to learn than CorelDraw. I use Corel successfully. I like terribly much.

Never had much time for Illustrator or Corel. Mainly because I adopted Photoshop as my go to program right from the start. Vector wise it can be a little frustrating to begin with but I'm at the stage where I can do pretty much whatever I like vector-wise, no hassle. Don't be afraid :)

In my experience I found that Adobe Illustrator is a very advanced program however when learnt properly things can be pretty self explanatory.

Corel Draw is easier to learn, but Illustrator probably takes the win
