I saw a contest holder commenting that blind contest din't work for him so he prefers open. Open contest sometimes helps with the brief, some point that you missed and other designer highlights and now you can highlight it in your own way.

Right now contests are not blind by default because it is considered a "feature", and CH's have to pay to use it in order to make their contest blind. That's also probably why designers will now receive a penalty for asking the CH to make the contest blind. If it didn't cost money, you would most likely see more blind contests.I'd say blind contests should be by default. What I remember from public contests is that when someone comes up with original idea and contest holder tells that he likes it then all the others runs with the same idea.

Blind contest, if I have great ideas in my mind.... But open contest has its own benefits, like I can see my competitors, not to copy them but to study what the CH's taste. Though... cheaters in open contest are sucks.....

I like public contests because this is the real contest when you can see what are made by the others and you try to make something better. In that way you can feel the real competition. Blind contests are good sometimes but not always.

Blind or public contest doesn't a matter to me. The only matter is if Project Holder can not describe his desire on brief, sometimes Project Holder made decision out of his brief without communicate it first to us. Hope wont happen at this site (i'm just transferred from other site =p).
