Two comments about this logo:
1 - Even when this is not that impressive, it does its work. I mean, you see it and you see Microsoft, it looks like Microsoft. Perhaps because of the emblematic same 4 colours, or the 4 parted symbol, so .. However, it feels like Microsoft, so, the brand is still there. Unchanged.
2 - As far as I can tell, this "back to 2d" trend adopted by Microsoft's mobile UI and the brand itself, is kind of a sample of that Microsoft is not the trending leader any more .. This flat type simplistic iconography was first shown by Google and Facebook and now by Android as well .. so IMO Microsoft try to re-enter in the market by mimmiking competitors in some manner.
All in all .. Not loving it, not hateing it ...
Nice way to get back into the news though, and into the market.
Hopefully their software and devices well back all this intent up.
