Now that I remember, my father taught me this kind of "encrypting" method .... He didn't called it that way but just taught it to me. I'll post soon a sample of what I was taught.
Here you go!
This is "A tribute to my dad!" (he is 66yo nowadays)
Imagine drawing the following design very carefully (at child age maybe 6 or 7) using just a sharpened pencil and a plastic ruler ......
And then ... asking everybody to figure what's this out ... żżż???
And then .... when everybody was given up ... I just unvealed the "secret" words by tilting backwards and showing the design from an almost-horizontal point of view (or perspective) .....!
TADAAAAAA!

Thank to my dad I had "a gift" those days!
Hehe ....
Those were memorable days.
And (btw) that was (certainly) Anamorphic Art .....
don't believe it? ... print it and try it yourself
you'll love it! hahaha

that's very cool! but it don't look ferry useful
Hi Joosten,
More than just cool (well, it is indeed) ... I think these techniques are becoming more useful every new day ... think of huge posters placed on buildings sidewalls, cinema wide screen, highly-walked floor ads.
As far as I can tell, Anamorphic is not just of "one type" or one unique technique ... It looks more like a better-and-creative way to catch the customers' eye from an unexpected point of view or perspective (where they use to stand by or stop momentarily), and that (IMO) looks pretty interesting and useful in some particular situations.
Check this out.
Julian Beever's pavement drawings
Enjoy it,
And get inspired

This one is great
Look at this picture ... it was taken from the wrong POV.
Now .... this one was taken from the right POV.
Hahahaha! Nice!
And definitively eye-catching!
Regards,
I am currently studying advertising, and this makes me think of all kinds of different applications of this kind of art, in advertising.
What if these were 15 ft tall, bearing a Nike logo?
and this

yes!
Imagen this kind of (AA) Ad placed at the base (floor) next to a building cylindrical column and turning that column into this cylindrical mirror!!
HAHA It sounds crazy but ... may work!
Cheers.

I was walking down the street the other day and there was a manhole that was painted to look like the lid of a coffee cup! The steam from underground made it look like a fresh brew! Ahh the wonders of ambient art.
wow man, this is a newer technique i've heard abt!!!
wow, that's illusion.
I love street paintings. I never seen one in real life though.
i always see this stuff
I saw a version of this where you take a poster and cut it into 10mm strips, stick one strip on the side of each bar on a railing fence and then it's invisible unless you are walking alongside it.
i love illusions this is so cool
i'm gonna try it!
