I wonder, however, whether they all serve their purposes. Can the barcode with the dinner plate be read normally/easily at the store? They say that there are zero instances of false reading by barcode readers but have noted "machine readability is key"...

coca cola now has bar code in shape of a bottle and i thought how it's strange that so much time passed until someone created bar code different than simple rectangle with lines.

These are cool. I remember reading an article about these a while back.. I think they were making them scanable with cell phone! Like how you can use the iMac camera for inventory... Any idea when this tech comes to the U.S?

These are really interesting. I am glad to hear that coca-cola is putting the idea to use. I always felt that a barcode tends to kill a design, but these become a part of the design. Awesome find!
