Cell phone design

Hello,
I was always a gadget freak and cell phones are not an exception. However for 1-2 years now I find almost all the cell phone designed by nokia SE etc not so attractive. I would like to ask you If any of you has ever tried to design a cell phone and what will be the best approarch to "promote" his work in those companies for evaluation.

Mobile companies have their own design teams, i know. Is it possible for an "outsider" to suggest something?

Yes, I've been into this aswell for a time, but these questions always stop me from going any further;

If you do make a design, who will you send it to? (directly to the CEO?)
If you sent it to the design team, will they manipulate it and make it their own design and take all the credit?
What will you gain from this? Publicity? Money?

Since not being in their design team, I highly doubt that they will accept your design! Unless you have contacts with the owner in some way, so you will impress him/her instead of trying to impress the highly critiscising design team who might be jealous of your idea?

Anyway if you do find a way, please tell me!
