    Lightbulb thinking about a logo..

    Hi!
Well, I am finally working at my online portfolio; after months of thinking about it and never doing it now this website gave me the input to put myself into it.

So know I know it may seem stupid that a designer says something like this but my only problem is that I'm trying to find a satisfying logo for myself but just nothing comes out.. I'm thinking about something simple, just my nick (cosmico) and a small image next to it, but I dunno about what font to use and what image to put next to it. So I thought maybe some of you guys could just give me some advice, I obviously don't want any of you to do it for me but just discuss the topic and see if thanx to your advice I can finally do something neat..

    Thank you so much...

here you will find some of my work:

Well okay, you like to do web-design as well as lomo photography. From that, you can deduce something square-like, at least initially, to represent web-design as well as photography. If you have other works in your portfolio, perhaps logo and/or brochure designs, you could change the starting shape to suit your needs.

Next, you could morph this starting shape to reflect your style of work, or the mindset you're curently in. For example, I see that your web-designs don't follow convention, graphical elements flow in and around the canavas. This windflow-like theme seems to also resonate in your siggy. So based on that, you could create something wavy, perhaps a wavy "C", and if you go with the square example above, perhaps it could cut/immerse itself through the square somehow. Or you could also create a regular rectangle, and cut a wavy shape above, sort of like an invisible glass holding wavy black ink.

Likewise, you can just use two thick bordered rectangle, overlapping each other in an angle as the logo, and do away with the "C".

As for the font, well type in your name in Photoshop and scroll down every font in your list until several simple varities catches your eye. I personally like Eurostile, or maybe narrowed Zurich .

these are just about the "graphic" part..

here I am mainly looking for shapes..indipendently from colours (or just black eventually)

these are complete of my name..

the last one is the one I like most, anyway the "be apart" text should be there in all of them. Mainly Im not convinced of the colours and of the idea of my name written with "handwriting" (I actually wrote it with th mouse in photoshop)..

    all comments/suggestions/critiques are highly appreciated..

nrak: thank you very much..you gave sum good ideas

Great, the shape has promise. I agree with you too, color needs a bit more work.

Ohh like that, hrmm... well I thought you ment for them to be sketches or somethin' . I had something else in my head though, something much smaller, something a bit inconspicuous, yet oozing professionalism when noticed. Try shaping the logo to a cleaner form, and using a non-fancy font.

..not really. The idea was to do something easy to remember and the shape I chose kinda represents the universe: the dot represents the center of it and outside there are "undefined borders" as the universe has.. Cosmico > cosmos

If you are thinking about space and universe, a circular logo would resemble the planets etc. Maybe the 'C' in Cosmico can be embedded in a circle? Your design looks good but are you after a 'scratchy' logo or something more iconic and professional looking?

    And good luck with it!

Your discussion is interesting.. I want to do something artistic and professional-looking as well. Because in my style I try to do non "100% computer created" graphics working with images or brushes, etc.. But do you think that the "scratchy logo" looks unprofessional?? Look it up now on www.cosmicone.tk with orange background! I'm curious to have your opinion..

I had a look at your website... I now realize what you are trying to accomplish from your logo. So heres my opinion, your 'scratchy' logo provides a nice contrast to your 'rectangular & smooth' looking website, this helps the logo to 'stand out' or catch the eye of a visitor. The 'arty' look to the logo shows what you are trying to accomplish as you mentioned. Secondly, the orange and logo combination seems to be OK, but don't you think the colours of the logo can be limited to 1 or 2 even more contrasting colours to the orange? Say if you make the colour of the logo (excluding the writing) white? This again will help catch the eye if done with the orange background. But then again are you wanting a really colourful logo? or more simple? In my opinion, too colourful logos can be unprofessional, what do you think?

Have another mess about with the logo and see what you get!

hey man..your idea is cool! I actually started doing monocolor tests in the beginning (as you can see up here) but then I moved to colour and shape attracted me more and I changed the colours to something nicer.. but I think making it in white will make it look a lot more "clean"....... I'll try it and put it online.. I'm now making a cool menu that should appear on the website but I have some problems with the Javascript but anyway I'll tell you when it's so u can tell me what u think about it.

Thank you so much it's so good to hear someone critic and constructive!!!
