    Question Editing images in Illustrator

Ok, so you know how in Photoshop if an image has a background, and you can use the magic wand tool to delete the background? Is there anyway to do that in Illustrator? Thanks.

You can remove the background by creating a mask. First make a path object that covers the part you want to show then select the picture or objects press right mouse and click make a mask.

You are mistaken. Don't misunderstand the basic rules: In Graphic Design you have 3 kinds of programs:

    - Image editors (Raster artwork - "pixels") --> "Adobe PhotoShop, Corel Photopaint, etc"
    - Vector illustrators (Vector art) --> "CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand"
    - Layout applications (editorial) --> "Quark XPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PageMaker"

You might add another category for web, but this is relatively new for graphic design, since it started only some years ago...

Chung is basicaly right, you can mask out anything in Illustrator, using anyshape imaginable. But you cant edit pixels. Although now with cs2 and cs3 you can convert the pixel based graphic into a vector but it may or may not give you the desired result.

Yup yup, Illustrator is for Vector, use Photoshop to edit images to give you the best results, altho you can use Illustrator to create masks then export to Photoshop but Photoshop also has the pen tool for that purpose, so better use Photoshop or any other image editing software.
