i like the simplicity of it...

the only think i would think that is catching my eye right now...would probably be the faded cirlced (gradients).... the blue red and yellow/orange.....i would say, for me, to make them small spheres.... kind of like dots, but colors with a little depth..not necessarily a sphere, but you catch my drift. :)
Portfolio so far. Adding more periodically. Working on getting more work up :) http://www.freewebs....leportfolio.htm

I think gray and dark colors are too heavy.
In my opinion you should first change the font, and buttons - cause they're doesn't match to dark theme.

Next thing is distracting glow. I cant focus on text cause my left eye brings me back to the glow.

Web sites definetly needs some space to breathe - but on left and top you have too much air - unused space.

I think it'll be better if you start all over again. Pencil and piece of paper are big friends of designer. :)

Its not that readable because of you used black and grey or you need to make the gray lighter or use white. And too little picture need to be more to show what you are made of directly.

Hi Vince,
I overall like your design. I don't agree with radical that you should do the yellow, red and blue "lights" spheres, or dots or anything else. They wouldn't match the theme - the light over 86 designs and the light on the corner of each button. I actually thing these "lights" are the catchiest parts of the design.
The font you have used for the text is quite readable so even though it is gray(light) on gray(dark) it is not that hard to read.

Still, I do agree that the air is a bit too much and I would add the simplicity too. I generally think that too simple and clean sites are not the greatest for portfolio sites. I also don't like the buttons much, I think they could be made to match the rest of the design more.
I also think adding some more details would only help.
You are doing well, keep on working and you'll do perfect :)

I'm not gonna lie I'm not a web designer but I actually like the contrast that the "glows" create I think it brings some interest to the design... I would suggest that you use the same colors of the glows throughout the design tho... maybe make some of the fonts (like the about me title) those colors... and just another note the about me section sounds a littl awkward... I dont know I think it sounds unprofesional and I'm pretty sure some of the grammar is off... just thought I would throw that in there since you said your are trying to do more profesional work...

Overall I like where u r headed with the site..

For the home page it doesn't make sense to have links in the main page to something you already have buttons for on the top. Home pages can be tricky if you don't have 'recent news' or something like that to fill the space.

For your 'about me' section, I would re-word it. Unless you've had plenty of graphic design classes or a degree in the field, I would be wary of calling yourself a graphic designer (there are plenty of people out there that will attack you for this). Also, following the word 'professional' with 'stuff' doesn't sound very professional. On that note, also I wouldn't include the winking smiley face.

For the design itself, I agree that there's too much space (although air to breathe is good). Try creating more of a hierarchy using a grid and placing things on the page that way.

I would change the font also, but I'm saying that without seeing the work.

Good luck,
Anna (here's my website if you're interested: www.cd-cia.com/arobertson)
