Its for a software company logo

Because it was for a hitech commuinity of 3d artist,I did this in maya and just didnt work out cos it became very complicated and also I thiught doing coral shapes in 3d was easy which it isnt infact its the hardest of the lot and approach.
Basically just trying to improve on the design so that I could have a extra piece of work in my portfoilio.

this one I had loads of design ideas and it is a personal project non commercial butits for a health food shop.
I need to know which ones seem to work etc the colour scheme.

Where does the two "V" shapes derive from? They seem to be the strongest presence in all of these, yet I can not relate them to any of the information you have given.

I want to be as cordial and polite as I can.

I am not familiar with Maya, but the attached images look more like street signs or instructional renderings.

I don't know if the color scheme is required, but I feel that revisiting this would be a crucial step in renovating this design to something a little more closer to par in today's competition. That, along with many other things.

I encourage you to compare these concepts to that of some popular brands. Particularly in the health food industry.

Look at their colors, look at their form, and analyze how you perceive them and the emotions they bring out from you.

I feel like I would not be doing you any justice if I was not to be honest, in my opinion, from what I hope would be a designers standpoint. I would really work hard on taking in your surroundings and competition, and using that to your advantage. I would be lying if I said that the current work shown is portfolio material.

Please don't take me as being harsh, we all have started somewhere. God knows I did. I just want to provide you with some honest criticism, which is what you get in the real world.

Koalakev, I have to agree with cclark413 above, since you are asking for advice for a piece you are trying to add to you portfolio I feel critical critique is the only answer. So let me start off with that you are on the right line with color, however you are using the extremes of these colors. In many Health ads, commercials there seem to always have Oranges, green and yellows. However they use subtle shades and not the strong stark ones you are using. Think of an early morning, the sun is just starting to peek over the horizons. Can you see the pastel colors yet. several light shades of orange, mixed in array of subtle yellows. The greens of the plants and grass shining with drops of dew. OK now that you have that picture, start over on your color palette. Next lets talk design. I don't get it either, I can tell that these are just a bunch of different variations of the same sign in the most part, but just like CClark I get the feeling of traffic signs. I am just not feeling it. I do not use maya but I have used 3ds max and I question why use a 3d modeling program to do 2d graphics? Koalakev, please understand that I am only being critical so you may learn. There are a few other issues but I will let you start with all this first. One last thing I can see how everything sort of ties in What is with the starfish? By the way the building block idea of the vitamins and minerals good idea, however it has been used many times over in the health industry. I apologize if you think I am a bit too critical but I want you to have a good piece for your portfolio

I appreciate that you are trying to help but could you be a bit more specific on how he needs to "Think Harder". We need to be honest yet supportive to other designers. Is there one specific thing you would do right now to fix any of the designs?

    Smile 3d star logo

there are 2 projects on the go here

the health works is one version

and the star was another brief

There are all portfoilio pieces juat to bolster my portfoilio and skills.

The 3D STAR is basically for a lets say a website who is about having a community of 3d artist so I was trying to use the coral idea to illustrate my point.

Here is a newer version which I would like people to comment on

TRIED TO DEVELOP THE 3dStar idea a bit furthur

your comments were a lot better than what you normally get most times.

I have now got some 3d ideas for a logo.
Some times 3d to create a logo can create some very interesting effects alhough it can be laborious when a 2d package is much easier

Just creating a star with some texture to show a community of artist.

    Tell me what you think?

having treid doing some logo design work for the open entries logos especially with tect is very rextricted to top and bottom layout and trying to keep it compact.

I would like to know which star brings out the best look and emotions oput of you or none at all

On the star logo: I like the concept of the individual pieces becoming one, but it is still a bit busy. I think you can illustrate that with less components, and perhaps having the pieces all the same shape to minimize the chaotic feeling. Logos should be as simplified as possible, yet still reflect a concept. On the previous designs, the pointed ends make more sense than the rounded ones. The circular ends reminded me of a cartoon character.
